The Resilience Series: Seeing Opportunity Amid Adversity

When failures or negative events happen, it is common for us to think about what will happen next. Often, quite unknown to us, the way we think of the future, especially as a result of COVID-19, could be paralysing us from taking any constructive actions.

This interactive webinar will explore the science in reshaping our beliefs to see opportunities amid difficult situations.

What you will learn:

- Understand how catastrophizing tendencies lead to anxiety
- Learn the skill of seeing opportunities amid difficult situations
- Strengthen one’s ability to adapt

This session is part of The Resilience Series, organised by Happiness Initiative in partnership with National Youth Council.

Yap Youmin, Founder, Xiu Nature Connections

Breezing through the Singapore education system with good grades, top schools and scholarships, the high-flyer life with a stable progressive career and good paycheck were in the pipeline. Choosing to tend to the nagging feeling that there must be something more to these, Youmin took the plunge into becoming one of the region’s pioneering certified forest therapy guide. She began her own practice Xiu Nature Connections to coach people to live from a well-rested and thriving place.

Youmin is here to share how Holding Opposites has served her to continue her journey with positive energies and mindsets, amid difficult times.

At NYC, we believe in a world where young people are respected and heard, and have the ability to influence and make a difference to the world. Together with our partners, we develop future-ready youth who are committed to Singapore by instilling in them a heart for service, resilience and an enterprising spirit.
